Do BHB salts help you lose weight?
There is no good evidence that they do. BHB salts raise ketone levels in the blood, but higher ketones are not the same as less body fat.
BHB is short for beta-hydroxybutyrate, a ketone your body makes when it runs on fat. Salt forms bind it to calcium, magnesium or sodium so it can be swallowed as a powder or in a gummy.

It showed no extra benefit. Overweight adults ate a controlled low-calorie ketogenic diet for 6 weeks, and half also took about 24 g a day of a BHB salt (Buga 2021, ketone salts + diet trial).
The diet improved body composition for everyone. The salt raised ketone levels but did not change body composition further (Buga 2021, ketone salts + diet trial). The trial was small, with 12 people on the salt and 13 on placebo.

How much BHB is in a Jellutide gummy?

Do BHB salts have side effects?
