What does the research on apple cider vinegar show?

The vinegar research shows small effects at doses far above a gummy's. A 12-week trial used 15 or 30 mL of liquid vinegar a day, which is 750-1,500 mg of acetic acid (Kondo 2009, vinegar trial).

Weight fell by about 1-2 kg and drifted back after stopping. The authors worked for a vinegar maker.

A 2025 meta-analysis found small effects with high variation, and it pooled a trial later retracted (Castagna 2025, ACV meta-analysis). Mayo Clinic says vinegar is not likely to cause weight loss (Mayo Clinic, ACV for weight loss).
